Coffee Creamer Revelations: “Yes, I am like my mother”
I leave the coffee creamer out in between cups, I go barefoot at any chance, I talk too much, and stay up too late. I speak to strangers and ask them nosy questions. I walk like her and eat sloppily like her. I am psychic like her. I am sad and strong like her. I am happy and hopeful like her. I love my nephew like her. I love my brother like her. I have strong, unbending character like her. I learn and open my mind and heart to everyone like her. I seek social justice like her. I laugh too loudly like her. I have faith like hers- a different flavor but same tenacity. The same curiosity to run and see. The same confusion by dishonesty. A similar seedy past cloaked with a rebellious girl next door. SO yes, Dad, enjoy your ‘new’ life, and next time you say I’m just like my mother, I will only say, “Thank You!”
